About Me
Cherise Richards is an international published photographer specializing in luxury weddings and portraits. She is primarily based in Atlanta, Georgia, seasonally available in St.Croix, US Virgin Islands (her hometown), and also available for out-of-state and destination weddings. Outside of Atlanta, Cherise has captured weddings in Haiti, Turks & Caicos, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, St. Croix, New Orleans, Miami, Chattanooga, Memphis, North & South Carolina, Birmingham, Houston, Richmond and Newport News, Virginia. Her corporate work with the annual National Health Disparities Conference has taken her to both Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Cherise was recently seen on two episodes of VH1's new show, "My Celebrity Dream Wedding," photographing two amazing weddings. She recently had the opportunity to shoot an editorial wedding fashion spread with Atlanta Style Weddings and snagged the cover of not only the March/April Atlanta Style Weddings magazine cover, but the Chicago Style Weddings issue as well! What a way to start 2022! Her work has also been published in Essence, Ebony, Glamour Magazine, Modern Luxury Weddings Atlanta, Black Bride, Munaluchi and more.
Cherise has won The Knot Best of Weddings award every year between 2016-2022 which gained her the Knot Best of Weddings Hall of Fame award. Out of 1,000 photographers listed on the Knot in Atlanta, Cherise Richards Photography is the only black-owned photography business with a Knot Hall of Fame award, which means that when you are book Cherise, you are booking the best of the best! Cherise was recently nominated for a 2022 Diamond award from Modern Luxury Weddings Atlanta magazine for "best couples portrait."
Cherise credits her mentor, of five years, celebrity photographer Derek Blanks for her knowledge in lighting and magazine-ready final images. While working as one of his assistants, Cherise worked on professional photography and music video sets where she had the opportunity to capture behind-the-scenes images of Faith Evans, Fantasia and Chrisette Michele just to name a few. Cherise also spent three years as the resident photographer for the Atlanta-based Bailey Agency School of Fashion, owned by Cynthia Bailey, where she worked alongside director Terrence Staunton, overseeing photography for all agency talent.
Artist Statement
Outside of Cherise's keen eye for detail, and editorial-style lighting, Cherise has a way of making clients feel comfortable in front of her lens. Her polished final images makes her clients feel like they have stepped out of a magazine.
Fun Facts
Cherise spends her spare time during non-peak months back home in St.Croix with her family while enjoying the warm weather and beautiful sunsets. She loves brownies and is hooked on Gold Peak sweet tea.
